Help Link is an organization dedicated to providing public service personnel with easy-to-use communication tools for the hearing impaired and Spanish-speaking communities. We are committed to helping these individuals effectively communicate during emergency situations.
The concept for these tools was borne out of a tragic auto accident involving the hearing impaired Maureen Williams. She was 8 months pregnant when she was struck by a car going through a stop sign. When the emergency personnel arrived, they had no way of communicating with her since she is deaf and was badly injured. She ultimately lost the baby, which prompted her husband Jim Williams to research a way to help other people avoid this type of tragedy.
Several years of research uncovered the over-whelming need for an easy way for public service employees (and many others) to communicate with the hearing impaired and Spanish-speaking communities. Help Link has developed a program that municipalities, companies and institutions using basic visual images of the widely accepted American Sign Language (ASL). This is needed since not every deaf person can read either.
ASL is also used in Spanish-speaking parts of the world making it useful to both communities simply by adding the Spanish subtitles. Jim and Maureen Williams partnered with Joe Pajari in order to make this new business venture a reality. They are all committed to growing this company as a way to give back to the hearing impaired community.
